While a small selection of these are General Perks available to all characters regardless of their build, most Perks require you to first reach a specified rank the the associated Skill before they become available. Perks are special active and passive abilities which my be purchased using Perk Points. However, Cybernetics are a permanent upgrade which takes up the Trinket slot and cannot be removed once installed. Trinkets are equippable items which can increase or decrease the Skill Rank of all associated Skills depending on their effect. As such, they are best used at higher ranks due to the increasing cost of purchasing later ranks with Skill Points. ![]() Skill Books are a single-use consumable that immediately increases the associated Skill Rank by 1. In addition to spending Skill Points, your current rank in a Skill can be increased through the use of Skill Books and Skill Trinkets. This means that it takes 28 Skill Points total to advance a Skill to Rank 10. The cost to buy successive Skill Ranks increases over time, as explained in the table below: Certain Backgrounds and Quirks may provide additional Skill Points, and the Intelligence Attribute provides a one-time +1 Skill Point for every even rank reached.
